THE FRIENDS WE HAVE FROM THE PAST TO THE
FRIENDS WE HAVE NOW
Freshmen Year:
I started out not knowing my way through the hallways, and I had experienced what it felt like to be a freshman for the first time. The upperclassmen would put students in the trashcans or stuff them in their lockers because they were underneath them. I met a few people this year, and I also still had my friends from middle school. My freshmen year wasn’t all that exciting because I was a shy person and I kept myself isolated from other people.
Sophomore Year:
I was still a shy person but I wasn’t afraid to sit with people I didn’t know. This year I met some new people and we became friends, and I’m still friends with the same people from middle school, but I had a few ups and downs with my old friends. I also had a boyfriend in high school. He was out of school, and we got along great.
Junior Year:
I was finally coming out of my shell and trying to build out of being shy. I was also trying to come out of having bad self-esteem which is also a long process but I’m working through it. I made a lot of friends this year and I even made a best friend. I also had a death this year so I’ve had some ups and downs.
Senior Year:
This year has been an awesome and a very relaxed year. I’ve met more people who are seniors and some who I didn’t know were seniors until this year. I also do more activities that involve me getting to know more people. So my best year was senior year and I can’t wait to be out on my own and heading to college.

KORKEY’S RESTAURANT
ENTREES
Freshmen- Didn’t know too much about Corcoran, met a few new people. I met this guy Jason, who was my sister’s friend’s guy friends’s friend. We ended up dating for four months. Later that year, my friend Erika met this guy Billy through my boyfriend, and they started dating. This year, I hung out with Jason, Erika, Jenna, Shannon, Billy, and Jonathon. We all ended up meeting Jonathon, a guy who was a foreign exchange student from Germany. He lived with Billy. I ended my relationship with Jason and shortly after so did Erika and Billy. The only good guy from our group ended up being Jonathon. $Losers
Sophomore- I finally knew my way around Corcoran. Not too much happened. I started to become friends with Leah, a girl I knew from 9th grade. That same year I hung out with Danielle, Leah’s friend who also became my friend. We didn’t have much in common and didn’t really hang out with them much after, but we are still acquaintances. $?????
Junior-This year I met some very interesting people who I will never forget. I hung out with Erika, Kim, Jen, Shan, and me. We called our group Chick Five. A third way through the year we all became good friends with Jason and Jeremy. We noticed that all our drama was due to Kim and Jason. They started being cliquey and started half or more of our problems in the group and with other people. We confronted them and no longer hang out with them. $Drama Queens
Senior- I did most of my growing this year. As a person I have definitely matured. I have learned who I am as a person, who to watch out for and I learned who my true friends are. This year was the most fun and easiest of all. This year I hung out with a couple of different people I didn’t know too well in the past. I met this guy Shane who I started talking to. My girls are Jen, Erika and Emily, the most chilled, relaxed, funniest people you will ever meet. $Priceless
DESSERT- OCC Here I come!!!!!

A Quick Laugh
"Unuh girl, look at her hair! I don't know who be doin' it but that s$#t is ugly! (Laughter) And girl look at her sneakers. She musta got them from Payless. It's a shame she can't afford sneakers like ours." (Later that day) " Girl look at her a$#. Walkin down the street wit some coochie cutters on. I bet she nasty as hell. And look at them thick a$# glasses! I don't know what she was thinking but she need to get herself together."
Immaturity
Kiena and Janeesa were best friends since elementary. They did everything together. They were inseperable. But, their friendship began to grow further apart when they both got to high school. Kiena and Janeesa were the type of girls who always gossiped and made fun of anybody just to lower their confidence. But, Janeesa began to hang around other girls Kiena didn't really care for. Janeesa decided to do her own thing and throw everything Kiena and herself had had for so many years. Besides joking, Kiena was actually a very gentle and quiet person inside. She just acted a different way when Janeesa was around just to make a better impression. Fun to Kiena and Janeesa was hurting others. But, even though Kiena may have seemed mean, she was tired of that lifestyle. But, Janeesa wasn't ready to let it all go and grow up. What Kiena didn't know was that Janeesa was also planting lies about her and trying to ridicule her. Which Kiena couldn't believe because she was supposed to be there for her. Basically Kiena and Janeesa fell off and decided to end the friendship for the both of them.

Open Your Eyes And Look Around
"Hey, i'm Shaneeta. What's your name?I'm Kiena. Didn't we go to Junior High together? Yeah, and you had a locker next to mine, wow. I guess we have most of our classes together huh? Here's my number and call me in the morning, we can start walking to school together. Alright,i'll see you in the morning."
Small Change Big Effect
Kiena and Shaneeta knew each other longer than they thought. Kiena hid herself into a shell and Shaneeta knew how to free her. Shaneeta and Kiena were 2 opposite people. Kiena thought of Shaneeta as a tom boy who only wore sweats and braids who only listened to certain kind of music. Kiena was a girly girl and very lazy. Shaneeta was into sports and fighting. But she proved Kiena wrong. They had their ups and downs. They also fought and argued alot. Kiena doubted their friendship at first and knew for a fact that it wouldn't last that long. But little did she know they would be ongoing friends for years to come. Shaneeta was starting to show Kiena that you didn't have to be a certain look to have a certain personality. Kiena judged Shaneeta by what she wore and looked like at first, but not how her personality was.

Mirror Mirror On The Wall
"Kiena, I was the best dressed at prom! It was all eyes on me! As soon as I walked through the door all heads turned. Now Erinna, you know you need to stop. I'm dead serious Kiena. I can't help the fact that i look good."
True Colors
Kiena had her good and bad friends. Erinna was in the middle. She was a handful. Erinna was a very intelligent girl, but when boys came around her sense went out the door. Erinna was always the type of person who thought she was too damn cute. She was very pretty, but her personality made her very ugly. Erinna was a cool person to be around but when boys came around she decided to be very bossy and controlling. Kiena wasn't going to put up with anyone talking to her any kind of way they wanted to. So, when Kiena and Shaneeta decided to tell her about herself she caught attitudes. She was also the type to talk to alot of boys, girlfriends or no girlfriends. Shaneeta and Kiena tried to tell her to slow it down before she got herself into alot of trouble. But, of course it was all about her and she didnt care. Kiena soon decided that it was time for her to stop worrying about other people and worry about herself.

"Come on Kiena push! Uhoh here comes the head, I see it! You're almost done, just 1 more push. It's a baby boy! 7 lbs 8 oz, 21 inches long. Nice and healthy. Congratulations."
Real Maturity
Kiena had her ups and downs. She lost friends and gained confidence. Friends she thought cared for her weren't there for her. Friends she doubted never left her side. Kiena had to face the fact that she now had a baby to take care of. She had to show him the way. She had no time for the cames even when the games came to her. Her past mistakes and regrets are left behind but never forgotten. Kiena felt that everyone should live life to the fullest and forget about grudges against old enemies. They should stop judging others by their flaws and start paying attention to their personalities.

Freshman Year– This was my first year of high school and it was quite different than middle school. There were a lot more kids in this school and the whole atmosphere was different. The lunches were better, so that’s a plus. I hung out with mainly my same friends from middle school, and some others I met in high school. I played football my freshman year and we went 8-0, so that was very fun. I went on the freshman trip to Toronto. That was a good experience. I tried out for the jv lacrosse team because the coach said he’d thought I would make a good defenseman.
Price– OUT OF STOCK
Sophomore Year– This year was easier than my freshman year because I knew what the school was like. I hung out with my same friends for the most part as I did in freshman year except for a few. I turned 16 during my sophomore year and I got my driving permit. I was kind of nervous at first to start driving but it was alright after I got the hang of it. I worked over the summer at my summer job and made quite a lot of money. I played jv lacrosse again.
Price-OUT OF STOCK
Junior year– I was kind of happy for junior year to get here because it meant I was almost done with high school and I want to get done with it. My classes got a little bit harder because they were the real IB classes, not pre-IB which I had to get the hang of. I hung out with my same friends for the most part. I played varsity lacrosse this year but I was out for most of the season because I had to get cleared and make sure my heart was alright.
Price– OUT OF STOCK
Senior year– My last year, I was very happy for this to come because I knew my senior year would be easy and I could just fly through it. I only have 4 classes and on certain days I have no school which is good because sometimes I only have school 2 times a week. I am playing varsity lacrosse and have started every game. I enjoy playing it and most of my friends are on the team which makes it better. High school has been a great experience for me and I think I have grown as a person since freshman year.

My name is Adriane O’Hare and I’ve never really realized how many of my friends protected me from harm. From back stabbers, bullies, and most of all myself. We had crazy times and more fun than any high school students should have. But there are four main people who held me up and protected me.
Tisdale Cuffey Fredrick Jr. is a year under me, and one of my most trusted friends. The only person who knew I was ticklish on the…never mind that thought. But he was the first person who helped me bear my cross. He always told me that I was a great writer, and that I’d go somewhere. He would glare at me if I put myself down and he thrived to keep me standing when I had not the will myself. He was always there for a hug and a laugh. He made my life easier.
Jasper a.k.a. Jaz, is one of my oldest friends. He’s meek and shy, but I wouldn’t have him any other way. He understood in his own way, what I was going through. He was the one I could always talk to, or go hide at his house. In my last month in P.A., I stayed at his house for a week, and I was treated like family. He is truly a great friend.
Now the two friends I spent the most time with can only be explained together. Rosey and Tory, we were the three musketeers, the trio, W-T-F. We were the three original people with nicknames. Rosey was Wari, Tory was Tara, and I was Fate. We joked and got stuck in stairwells, and ran into the occasional locked door. We were crazy, and completely different. Rosey was the major nerd, and she will agree. I was the not as big nerd with an attention span of three minutes. While Tory was the hyper active athlete. But we grew up and were great friends.
Friendship is a great thing, but you don’t need a ton of friends to make you happy. If by the end of your life you can count your true friends on one hand, you’ve been lucky.

In my ninth grade school year at Corcoran I had been laughed at. I would never forget that day. In ninth grade January 2005, I was in lunch with my friend and as soon as I sat down to eat lunch, something funny happened. In order to eat I needed a fork, so as soon as I stood up people around me started laughing at me. So I asked my friend what they were laughing at and he said "you." So I ran to the bathroom to see what it was, as I turned around in the mirror I saw that there was noodles and tomato sauce all over my pants. It was crazy. So I had to leave school to go home and change. So from now on, before I sit down in a chair in the lunchroom, I look at the chair to make sure there's nothing on the chair. On my way home people driving in cars were beeping their horns, rolling their windows down and laughing at me. They were saying things like "what are you doing feeding your butt instead of your mouth?" I ran home scared thinking somebody else was going to say something else.
In my tenth grade year someone made me feel real small. Knowing that my best friend had a big mouth, I told him something three days before school. I told him that there was a boy that I liked and that I think he likes me too. So now that there are two months of school left we never asked each other out. Or never even hung out to get to know each other better. Maybe become close friends. So my best friend saw him in the hallway one day. I was with him walking to our next class. My best friend saw him in the hallway one day. I was with him walking to our next class. My best friend told me that he had to give him something. Come to find out he told him that I liked him ever since the last day of school last year. I was so mad because I started to blush and then left when he was about to come over and talk to me. The boy I liked told my best friend that he liked me too. But we only became friends because I got back with my ex-boyfriend, who I have been with for five and a half years.
In twelfth grade I was on my way to school. It was snowy, I was five and a half months pregnant, and I fell on my stomach. So I looked around and I heard everyone laughing at me. No one came to help me. I went back home crying because I didn't think it was funny, and I could have lost my baby. I went to the hospital and got checked and everything was okay. I went to school and everyone started to ask if I was okay and I said yes.

Nice girls finish last
Recently I interviewed a senior at Corcoran high school in Syracuse New York. We had a long conversation about her four years in high school. Miss Scott had expressed sad, happy, and confused times that led up to her very interesting senior year. “Freshman year was the best,” Zamara Scott said with much delight on her face as she laughed. “I was in sports, had friends, and the teachers loved me. It was the life."
Gomez: What was the best day of your freshman year?
Zamara: When I went to my first pep rally, wow! I was so surprised it sent a rush through my body. It was bigger than a wave or mountain could ever be. With their advisors, Mr. Steve Lutwin, Mr. Fritzen, MR. Barralotta, and Mrs. White by their sides they were the dominant class. Their class received the same trips but made them worth the while, same pep rallys but more excitement.
Zamara: “I am proud of class of 08’. Because during our four years of high school I never felt like I was on my own.”
She told me even if there was something simple as homework her cougar 08’ class shared the stress.
Zamara: I don’t think there was ever a time when we walked away and said “that wasn’t fun”
Gomez: now that we know how great your freshman year was lets hear about the rest.
Zamara: well, sophomore year was just average for me only thing I really had to look forward to was up coming events and our future. We believed we had a long time. Now standing here as a senior I realized thee days went by quicker than I thought they would.
Gomez: Junior year was a mixture of hell and heaven for Zamara like most juniors in high school its time for the college process.
"With prom and graduation one year patience was getting short" she said. Volleyball path was looking great her path of commitment to sports was maintained and she planned to keep it that way but, unfortunately her plans weren’t going her way. At the end of her junior year she ran into some trouble.
An unnecessary fight that she didn’t know at the time would take away everything she loved. Her volleyball career, her position as vice president her teachers trust was lost even though teachers began to believe in her. The two things that she loved the most were taken away at that moment.
Zamara: I never knew I could cry so much.
She presented the letter from her principle that said she wasn’t able to return back to Corcoran.
Zamara: all I wanted to do was graduate with my class at Corcoran where " we strive to be the best".
She showed me pages of her diary that she had started around the time of her suspension from Corcoran up to now. You would realize that nice girls really do finish last and because she had made a mistake, her high school career had a glitch in it. Even though she didn’t get to play volleyball or be senior vice president she was able to concentrate more on her grades and go to prom and graduate with my senior class at Corcoran.
